Romanian Birth Certificate (RBC).

What kind of Romanian Passport do you need?

citizen with permanent residence in the US and
having a valid green card or American passport

Tourist Passport - Romanian citizen with
temporary residence in the US and having a valid
working permit/employment authorization/student
visa

To Apply for a Romanian Citizen Living Abroad
- Fill out Application
Form No. 5
(Please be advised to print the second page on
the reverse of the first one)
- Make copies of the following Romanian
documents:

Romanian Birth Certificate
-
Romanian Marriage Certificate
-
Valid Green Card or American Passport
-
Original of the expired Romanian Passport
-
Provide
four color photos passport size

How to send it:
- Come in person to the Consulate General and
leave the documents
- Use the mail services.
- The Consulate General will send the
documents to Romania for you.

How long does it take to get your new passport?
- It will take up to six months to obtain
your new passport, as it will be processed at
the local passport office in the town where you
lived before moving to the U.S.

To Apply for a Tourist Passport
- Come in person to the Consulate General, as
you must sign the necessary documents in front
of the Consul.
- Fill out Application
Form No.1
- Fill out a
Power of Attorney in which you
will need to mandate somebody from Romania that
will request a Romanian Passport on your behalf.
- Bring a document proving that you are
legally living in the U.S. for a certain period
of time (i.e. working permit/employment
authorization/student visa). The Consul will
make a copy of the document and will legalize
it.
- Bring four color photos, passport size.
- For Romanian Passport Office you must have
the originals of your: Identity Document (ID),
Romanian Birth Certificate, and Romanian
Marriage Certificate (if it is the case).

If you do not have the necessary Romanian
documents
- For each missing Romanian document (e.g.
birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc)
upon your request the Consul will authenticate a
Power of Attorney to get duplicates of the
original documents from the Romanian
authorities.
- If your Romanian ID (buletin/carte de
identitate) is expired, in order to renew it you
need to come to the Consulate and have a Power
of attorney authenticated . Additionally you
need to bring four color photos, 1.18x 1.57
inches (3 x 4 cm).
